I put this in front of an open window and I get clean fresher air free of pollen. I have two of these and they work fine. You can get any grade of furnace filter you want, no more getting stuck with expensive OEM filters.

Bought unit to control dust in carpeted bedroom. I have been using the unit for about 2 months with it constantly on. I looked at more expensive air cleaners but did not want ionization. This unit was inexpensive and does a good job. This unit is a fan and does make noise even on low. I found the noise not an issue. My wife is happy as she does not have to dust as much as before. The unit takes standard size filters. Be sure to get pleated filters with a high merv rating as they work best. Great value so far. Minor issue with the logo label coming off out of the box.

Works good although it could be better. There is not enough room b/w the filter and fan blades to get a nice even flow of air through the filter. But air does move through the filter. Still much better then using cardboard and duct tape.

This is a great idea, since you can get all kinds of 20x20x1 furnace filters at your local hardware store for pretty cheap. I like the fact that you can use it as a regular box fan, too.
It definitely works. I'd say how well it works depends on what type of filter you put in. Personally, I replaced the included filter with a Filtrete electrostatic "air cleaning" filter.
My only gripe is the noise level. On the lowest setting, it is pretty quiet. On the med/high settings, it is really loud... forget about talking on the phone or watching TV unless it is on the other side of the room.
All things considered, I'd buy it again.

OMG, I've been doing this for years. Every summer, I'd get out my box fans and use packing tape to hold a large, regular air filter to the back of the fan. Not only it kept all the pollutants out it also kept the inside, fan and motor perfectly clean and new looking. And when summer was over, I'd toss the filter, and put away my CLEAN box fan back in the garage for storage. NO NEED TO BUY THIS when you can do the same for less than $15.00
